The Olive Branch opens express dining, rental space in SPICE Village

It has been a while since I’ve last blogged about something but I wanted to let you all know I’ve been working hard on a new business concept to build on the Olive Branch brand.  Below I have a story about a new concept I have been working on this year.  I’d love to hear some feedback.

WACO – Downtown eatery The Olive Branch will open its doors at its newest location, The Olive Branch Express, in SPICE Village at 213 Mary Ave. on Jan. 30 to provide quick, wholesome meals to customers in a hurry.

The Olive Branch Express will occupy the café space in SPICE Village that is currently Simply Good Eatery, a restaurant SPICE Village owner Jennifer Wilson started to offer business professionals an opportunity to grab a quick meal while browsing the shops on their lunch break. Leah Stewart, owner of The Olive Branch, approached Wilson about utilizing the Simply Good space for bridal showers, lunch caterings and meals for those on the go. Wilson realized this proposition would be a beneficial final transition for the shops, providing her with an opportunity to further perfect her brand.

“Simply Good Eatery is doing well and has a great following, but I realized transitioning into The Olive Branch Express would allow more time for me to focus on SPICE Village and create a better shopping experience for my customers while still having a place for shoppers to grab lunch,” Wilson said.

Simply Good Eatery will operate as usual through Jan. 27.

The Olive Branch Express will offer a different version of the familiar homemade American café delights it has shared with the Waco community for eight years.

“We want to show off a new facet to our business,” Stewart said. “This [new space] gives us a chance to serve the community in a different way with a different type of product delivery. It also allows us to showcase our casseroles and other items that prior to this space we only used for caterings.”

Menu items will include a daily hot meal special including lasagna, King Ranch chicken, pot roast, enchiladas and other items. Ready-made family size versions of these casseroles will be available for purchase on site.

The Olive Branch Express will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday – Friday with sandwiches, salads and casseroles available for purchase at the main SPICE counter until 6 p.m. The café will be available for rentals for groups up to 40 people on weekends.
