So I have been all about the salads lately. Let’s face it, dress them up, dress them down, they are still veggies. So this week, I went back to my first (and second and third) love(s). 1. Dessert. 2. Chocolate. … Continue reading
Mother’s Day is just a few short days away now, do you have fun plans? To celebrate, Leah and her mom are spending Saturday enjoying a relaxing day at Pura Vida Day Spa. But, here at the Olive Branch we know how busy life can get. Sunday, Leah’s mom will be here to help Leah in the cafe as we serve you and your moms! We hope you all can take a break from your busy schedules and show your mom how great she is too.
1. Start with Brunch. If you don’t have any cooking skills, then leave it to us! We serve brunch from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday and we’ll be serving our special coconut cream stuffed French Toast! But if you’d like to give it a try yourself, Leah’s sinful twist on French Toast recipe is easy and melts in your mouth. You can even try this recipe for Eggs Benedict Biscuits! She’s sure to love gathering around the table enjoying a delicious meal with the people she loves.
2. Now, moms always say, “Don’t get me anything, I don’t need a gift, just time with you!” And of course, that is always what they want, but my favorite part of Mother’s Day is seeing the look on my mom’s face when she opens the gift we all surprised her with. The key to this is getting her something she’ll use. If you’re mom likes to cook, spend the day cooking with her! At the Olive Branch, we have Leah’s recipe books and cupcake sets so you can make your very own special treats at home!
3. Most importantly: spend time with her. Forget the gifts and fancy meals. Mom’s mean it when they say all they want is a day spent with you. Give her a hug and let her know how special she really is!
Last but not least, if the thought of all this DIY sends you into a panic, the Olive Branch is always here for you! We’ll be serving our brunch menu all weekend and our cupcake case is always full of yummy treats. But whatever you decide to do, make sure it’s celebrating mom because she deserves it!
Oh my heavens, how is it already May? April absolutely flew by!
On behalf of Leah and the rest of the Olive Branch crew, we apologize for posting so sparsely this past week. Our transition to table-side service has been hugely popular, which is wonderful for business and less-than-stellar for blogging. We appreciate your patience as we work out a functional routine.
I’ve been working on some fun projects in the office this morning and I just had to share them with y’all. With graduation and Mother’s Day around the corner, our custom gift baskets make for a special way to let someone know you care. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, allowing you to pick what best fits the recipient’s taste without breaking your budget.
This morning, I put together a springtime basket, complete with an assortment of gift cards to the Olive Branch, Leah’s signature cookbook To Taste, and a bag of our custom coffee (not pictured below).
In the past, we’ve had parents send these baskets to their students during finals. I know I always appreciate knowing someone is encouraging me on to the end of the semester – especially when it’s communicated through cake balls and coffee!
I think these baskets are almost as much fun to put together as they are to receive! Some of our more popular options are listed below, but remember that we are always able to tailor a basket to your preferences.
With Mother’s Day just a week away, don’t doddle in placing your basket orders! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or give us a call at 254-757-0885 and we’ll put together a custom basket that’s just right for you.
Mother’s Day is coming up fast! I MIGHT have the best mom in the world. I’m sure a few of you out there might disagree thinking yours is the best, but I’ll keep mine. She is always willing to sacrifice her time and resources for me. She is full of wisdom and she plays a mean game of spades, too! I don’t know about y’all, but I NEVER know what to get my mom for mother’s day. She really doesn’t love receiving gifts and I sure don’t know what to buy her. Mother’s Day ends up being one of our busiest days here at The Olive Branch. And, of course, my mom usually ends up working at the restaurant with me washing dishes and cleaning bathrooms (I really know how to make her feel special, hunh?!)
This year, I think I am going to treat her to a shopping trip! Now that we exist underneath The Shops of Riversquare Center, we will have an easy walk. The Shops are full of great gift ideas (you don’t have to wait until Sunday to browse and buy.) They will even gift wrap them for you! While you’re up there, be sure and check out my friend’s new boutique, Plum. Jessica (about to be a mother for the first time) and her staff will help you find the perfect gift. Cakeballs and cupcakes are a fun way to celebrate too. Feel free to call and order a special treat for your mom. 254-757-0885
My mom and I hope to see you all Sunday for a celebratory brunch with YOUR mom. Remember we are open 8am-3pm now on Sundays!!
(Look for my blog tomorrow on Cinco de Mayo suiza enchiladas!)
